# MakeITWork – BIS Open Day

The recent Business Information Systems (BIS) awareness event – #MakeITWork – hosted in UCC on Tuesday, 10th May 2016 was well received by the many Leaving Certificate students who attended from various schools across Munster, including Regina Mundi; Presentation College; Mount Mercy; Christian Brothers College, Cork; St. Mary’s Mallow; Ballincollig Community College; Colaiste Choilm, Ballincollig; Carrigaline Community School; Loretto, Fermoy; and Colaiste na Toirbhirte, Bandon; as well as CBS, The Green, Tralee; Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne, Dingle; Presentation Secondary School, Milltown, Co. Kerry; St. Michael’s Listowel; and St. John The Baptist in Limerick.

Professor Ciaran Murphy, Head Cork University Business School (CUBS) welcomed the students and their teachers to UCC.   BIS staff members and Co-Directors of the BIS programme – Dr Ciara Heavin and Dr Gaye Kiely, as well as BIS graduates and students provided an insightful and informative presentation on the Programme.

Students were then invited to participate in a number of practical workshops where they were exposed to a variety of experiences in terms of coding, problem solving and team building exercises.
